Vagina

The Vagina: Anatomy and function | Diagram | Conditions | Symptoms

When people talk about the vagina, they’re usually referring to the vulva, which is the outer part of the female genitalia. The vulva includes the:
  • labia
  • vaginal opening
  • clitoris
  • urethra
The vagina is a muscular canal lined with nerves and mucus membranes. It connects the uterus and cervix to the outside of the body, allowing for menstruation, intercourse, and childbirth. Only 25% of the clitoris is visible to the naked eye. It’s shaped like a WISHBONE extending into the vagina.

DID YOU KNOW?
• that there are 8,000 nerve endings in the clitoris! That’s more than DOUBLE the nerve endings found in a penis.
• that 80% of women need direct clitoral stimulation to reach orgasm!
• That clitoral arousal elongates and PREPARES the vagina for penetration.
