You can no longer drink tap water in South Africa. Water is considered a macronutrient, but it’s unique compared to the other macronutrients like carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. The body requires water in larger quantities than any other nutrient – more than food. The average adult needs about 2–3 liters per day from all sources. Unlike other macronutrients, water contains no calories, but it is essential for survival. Water is critical for:
Transporting nutrients and oxygen
Regulating body temperature
Aiding digestion and metabolism
Lubricating joints
Removing waste products via urine, sweat, and feces
In the latest Blue Drop Report (2023) SEE BELOW 277 out of 958 water supply systems in the country is in critical (poor) condition and effectiveness. That is 32%. Only 26 water supply systems country wide were accredited with the Blue Drop distinction.
Roughly two thirds of your total water volume is going to be located inside the intra cellular space. Meaning most of consumed water are going to be inside the cells of your brain, your heart, your lungs and your kidneys.
What are the symptoms of dehydration? Headaches, dry mouth lips and eyes, darker colour urine.

Intermittent Fasting
Intermittent fasting (IF) is a simple, flexible, and free approach to eating that alternates between fed and fasted states. During the fed state, the pancreas secretes insulin to move sugar into cells. For individuals with insulin resistance (e.g., Type II diabetes), the pancreas produces excess insulin to compensate, leading to fat storage. In the fasted state, insulin levels drop, allowing the body to access fat stores for energy.
