Lennon Bergamot Essence is a traditional aromatic preparation, recognized for its distinctive citrus scent and flavour derived from bergamot oil. As part of the well-known Lennon range of Dutch Medicines, this 20ml essence is often utilized according to established household and traditional practices.

Bergamot oil has a soothing scent, spicy taste, and a wide range of potential uses and possible benefits. It is also a common cosmetic ingredient and a flavour added to Earl Gray tea.

You can enjoy the healing benefits of essential oils in several ways – inhalations, baths and massages. To inhale the fragrance, just put a drop or two of whichever essential oil you’re using on a handkerchief, or put a few drops on a light-bulb ring, or use a vaporizer or diffuser.

Essential oils are highly concentrated and must not be taken internally. Some people have an allergic reaction to oils, soo take care when trying out a new one. Also, because essential oils can pass through the skin into the bloodstream, they should not be used by pregnant women.

Bergamot oil is extracted from the rinds of citrus fruit (Citrus bergamia) that grow on bergamot orange trees. Also known as the ‘sour’ orange. The bergamot tree likely originated in Southeast Asia. It first came to prominence and received its name from the town of Bergamo in southern Italy, and it’s currently grown in many parts of the world.

Aromatherapy

Bergamot essential oil is well-known for its soothing aromatherapy treatment. Bergamot extract contains flavonoids (plant-based antioxidants) which can help high cholesterol. Aromatherapy with bergamot with essential oil can reduce anxiety.
Skin

Several compounds in bergamot oil have immunomodulatory, wound-healing activities, and anti-inflammatory properties.
Hair

Bergamot oil enthusiasts (and people who love soft, lightly scented hair) swear by this essential oil’s ability to soften and tame curls. Anecdotal evidence indicates that bergamot oil may also be soothing to an irritated scalp. The main chemicals in Bergamot essential oil are Limonene and Linalyl Acetate.

Tension-easing bath: Add 3 drops ylang ylang oil, 5 drops lavender oil, 2 drops bergamot oil and ½ cup Epsom salts.

Keep varicose veins at bay: Minimize the appearance of varicose veins by using a cold compress on your legs. Mix 6 drops each of essential oils of cypress, lemon and bergamot in a cup of distilled witch hazel. Chill in the fridge for at least an hour. Put your feet up, soak a face washer in the liquid and apply it for 15 minutes. This combination of oils helps to shrink swollen blood vessels, thereby reducing swelling.

Toning an oily skin: make an effective toner for oily skin with six drops of bergamot oil, four drops of lavender oil and 50ml of spring water. Avoid using this oil around your cat(s). They do not process citrus fragrances very well.
